Reversion of File:World marriage-equality laws.svg

Hello, your reversion was excessive. You have improperly reverted also the (correct) situations in Chile, Greece, Cyprus, Estonia and Slovenia. So, I have to redo the work again. Please, be more careful when choosing to which version a file like that should be reverted. Why did you revert all changes I've made without even checking them first to choose the correct version? User:L736E Your uploads of the map were incorrect as they did not portray the correct information about Greenland and Finland. Instead of telling me to be more careful when reverting incorrect files, I would advise you to instead be more careful when uploading such information. The point is that, if you revert, you have in any case an incorrect map. In such cases, where both revisions are incorrect, reversion is not the correct action, as you did instead. The correct action is modify the file. So, instead of re-reverting (edit war, to be avoided) and playing the game "you are to blame, not me", you should have taken the file and fix the two incorrect nations, saving the rest of the work that was, instead, correct. Reverting is not the only way to fix mistakes, exactly as you would do with a text: if an user inserts a text 98% correct and 2% incorrect, you do not simply revert the text back to the previous status, wasting the majority of a good contribution. You only fix the 2% to respect the part of correct work done by the other user. It's the basic Wikipedia and Wikimedia mechanism. --L736E (talk) 23:47, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

New vector maps!

Hello! Just wanted to notice that the vector versions of the current civil wars maps ,except Iraq and Syria, has been uploaded. As you may know vector images can take much less size than other types of images (.png) and can be zoomed without quality loss. If you want to make any updates please make sure to apply them on new vector maps .

This is distribution of RU-Lang by officially recognized states/countries. Crimea and other Russia-induced regions of conflict are not recognized by world community, Please, don't waste time showing occupied areas by Russia. Alex Khimich The fact that the regions are not recognized does not mean that the Russian language is not official on that territory. Don't involve yourself in changing maps for your POV reasons, the maps show the reality situation. The fact that Crimea and some other areas are coloured blue only means that the Russian language is official there, not that they are part of Russia, the borders remain the same.--Turnless (talk) 02:39, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

@Turnless: Recognition of Russian language by Russia as official on its occupied or separatism-sponsored areas added, but these unrecognized by UN. Countries claim legislation (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova) on these regions are not having Russian language as official, thus we are having doubts of status and show recognition as third color. Language maps aren't about UN recognition, they are about the 'de-facto' situation. If you go to Crimea or any of the unrecognized separatist regions you will be in a place where Russian is an official language. I understand from your page that you are a Ukrainian user who takes this issue very personally, but don't let your person POV effect edits on maps. This map does not show Crimea as a part of Russia, it only shows it as a region with Russian as an official language, which it is. --Turnless (talk) 22:32, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

I think we should maybe wait until the bill in the Isle of Man receives Royal assent and then colour it blue. As for Guernsey, the bill is quite far from actually coming into effect, so it will most likely have to wait even more. --Turnless (talk) 01:03, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Italy: the signature is a formal act taht can't be denied

Hello, you reverted the maps representing Italy's approval of same-sex civil unions with the motivation "bill is not yet signed". Maybe you're not aware that in Italy, once a law has been approved by the Parliament, the President's signature is a due act that can't be denied so the final approval by the Courts is enough in 99,99999% of the cases. There's only one case when the President could decline his signature, i.e. the law is against the Constitution, but this is not the case of this bill. Once again an unreasonable revert

The day 20th of may 2016 the President of the Italian Republic signed the bill. This gives the law IMMEDIATE effect. So, once again you are reverting maps without reason, just based on your personal interpretation. This is very close to vandalism. --L736E (talk) 07:20, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

That map only shows laws once they have taken effect. Finland is also an irreversible case but the law will only take effect in March 2017 which is why it is only coloured in yellow. The law in Italy is not in effect, it will take effect on June 5. If you write such messages on my talk page threatening to block me for following the rules of the map I will report this. --Turnless (talk) 20:58, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

en:Recognition of same-sex unions in Italy states "The law was published in the official gazette on 21 May and will take effect on 5 June 2016.", Gazzetta Ufficiale states "note: Entrata in vigore del provvedimento: 05/06/2016", en:Same-sex marriage states "Effective legalization dates: Civil unions legal in Italy on 5 June 2016.". We cannot contradict our own articles, especially ones that use this image. @Blackcat: it seems inappropriate to be having this discussion here and warning only one user when another (Prcc27) has also reverted in agreement with Turnless. To be fair, I have equally warned L736E. Isle of Man

I noticed your change to File:Same-sex marriage map Europe detailed.svg, "Now that the Isle of Man legalized, a circle is no longer necessary." I don't really understand why a circle is only necessary if it has not been legalized? Now the Isle of Man is barely visible... Regards, SPQRobin (talk) 15:36, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

A circle was differentiating the fact that the Isle of Man has its own laws in regards to issues like same-sex marriage. as per the description given a while ago. A user added the circles to the island and the Faroes Islands. I thought they were unnecessary as they can both be seen fine, but did not change it until now. I just think that the status (whether same-sex marriage is legal or not) does not matter, what matters is whether it is a separate jurisdiction (at least in this matter), and the Isle of Man is. So each of those small jurisdictions (Isle of Man, Guernsey, Andorra, Malta, ...) should be treated the same on this map, imho: either a circle or not. I indeed think that, without a circle, their colour is not clearly visible as those jurisdictions are too small to see on a map (certainly when used a as a thumbnail on an article). Pornography laws in Crimea

I disagree with your vision about pornography laws in Crimea (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pornography_laws.svg). That fact that Crimea is dispute territory does not cancel Ukrainian laws on this territory. So if somebody creates pornography in Crimea it breaks Ukrainian laws and Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have to start the criminal proceedings against that person/organization. Could you rethink this position and redraw the map or revert to a previous version? They would not start any legal proceedings. Crimea entirely follows Russian law as it is administrated by Russia. Ukraine considers it a "temporarily occupied territory" which already cancels out many legal proceedings that would have followed through there under Ukrainian law. --Turnless (talk) 14:18, 18 September 2016 (UTC)

You're wrong: they not only have to start legal proceedings, they actually started a lot of legal proceedings about events that happened in Crimea. Status as "temporarily occupied territory" does not cancel Ukrainian official institutions that have to react on ukrainian law breaking in Crimea. Here is an official website of Procecutor's office of the Authonoumous Respublic of Crimea (temporary lokated in Kyiv, use google translate to translate from ukrainian language): http://ark.gp.gov.ua/. There are many press-releases about criminal cases with what works this institution, for example: http://ark.gp.gov.ua/ua/news.html?_m=publications&_t=rec&id=192785 http://ark.gp.gov.ua/ua/news.html?_m=publications&_t=rec&id=192027 http://ark.gp.gov.ua/ua/news.html?_m=publications&_t=rec&id=190423 etc. As you can see, all of them related to the events and actions that happened on the "temporarily occupied territory".

Even if some kind of official proceedings do take place in Ukraine, they have little relevance to the actual situation in Crimea as they will not legally affect any of the individuals involved since Ukraine has no administrative control over the peninsula. What the hell, how can you ignore an reliable sources that I give you and still follow your individual vision? What the strange arguments like "little relevance"?

If you create a porn film in Crimea then Ukrainian authorities start a criminal proceedings against you and your status from this time is "Wanted". This is a fact so we have to revert the map to the more correct (previous) version where Crimea (as controlled by Russia territory) is filled yellow but also (as territory on which spread Ukrainian laws) has red outline. First of all, respect en:WP:EQ on both Wikipedia and Commons when responding to any user which means avoiding comments like "What the hell". Second, as I already said the fact that the Ukrainian authorities may start legal preceding will not change the fact that the internet and porn laws in Crimea itself will be entirely followed by Russian laws. Meaning the availability of porn and other internet websites as well as their legality will be based on the laws of the Russian Federation. Hi, unfortunately, I can't fix the PNG file as it is currently also protected, I can ask to end the protection but that will take time. Guernsey and Gibraltar await Royal assent. The Faroe islands await approval from the Danish parliament. Jersey only passed a measure of support for same-sex marriage, it has not yet legalized them. Death penalty

Hello.

Last month you updated this capital punishment map to make Russia accurately Orange.

I can only approve this move, since Russia is considered “abolitionist in practice” rather than a full abolitionist by Amnesty International in its last report.

But the map contains many other mistakes contrary to Amnesty International standards, and contrary to this other map, which is completely accurate.

And since I am unable to change an svg map, I respectfully suggest to you to make the necessary changes to the first map I mentioned.
