Gentoo logo is non commercial only, see en:Image:Glogo-small.png. -- Bryan (talk to me) 20:54, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
That may be, but is there a reason to believe that this is not fair use under copyright? For instance, OS X has the Apple logo, which is copyrighted, in the top left corner. Windows has the Windows logo in the bottom left. Screenshots of these are acceptable to make, and are all over the internet without disclaimers. My laptop has Apple's logo on the back. Am I prohibited from distributing photos of it because the logo is there?
An approriate fair use rationale will fulfill the conditions stated in en:Image:Glogo-small.png. Furthermore, the use of the desktop screenshot in the context of the article constitutes fair use under United States copyright law. There is no reason for this ridiculous deletion request. -- 71.173.13.51
"Fair use" is for Wikipedia, not for Commons. I went and censored the logo out of the image using a mosaic effect. --Damian Yerrick 16:14, 31 December 2007
I retract; I missed that important detail. Apologies. (<-- Same user as 71.173.13.51)
- Delete I'm sure a better screenshot without the offending logo can be made. The pixellated version doesn't cut it either, since it's UGLY. -Nard 16:38, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Keep If that's how you feel, I just shopped out all traces of the Gentoo logo, and I vote keep on the new version. --Damian Yerrick (☎) 15:44, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
